Flag Raising and Memorial Day Event at Coles Point Plantation

Bill and Donna Bukevicz planned a great event for our Flag Raising and Memorial Day Weekend with the help of the Coles Point contingent.  We arrived Friday and Saturday, held the Flag Raising ceremony on Saturday at 3PM and ate a Chicken Blog dinner later that evening, fixed by Phil Rogers.   On Sunday we held a Bloody Mary competition that Mary Ann Andrews won then enjoyed a tremendous breakfast.  Later that afternoon three boats (Prime Time, Rhapsody and Our Time) took many of us over to Tall Timbers to enjoy their Memorial Day Celebration.  Later that day we partied back at Coles Point, then reluctantly left for home on Monday.

Members attending included: Bill and Donna, George and Polly, Phil and Carey, Chris and Mary Jane, Gary and Nancy, Steve and Mary Ann, Dan and Elaine, Bill Bowman, Mike and Vicky, Bob and Norma, Kevin and Gloria, Ruth and Jean, Chris and Katherine and Phil and Patti.  We had guests that included:  Janet Coleman and Jimmy and Diane (friends of Dan and Elaine).

We had a very good time ... I'd say great but Carey says I say that too much!

Arrival on Friday the gang gathered on some boats for drinks and "catching up."

More of the "getting together" that happened on Friday.

Mike Enos putting up the American Flag for the weekend and more weekend discussions among the members.

Mike and Vicky relaxing on board their boat.
Friday evening we headed for the local restaurant for dinner.

  And we really enjoyed it.
Getting together on Saturday and a view of the Potomac River.
At 3 PM Saturday we started the Flag Raising ceremony, with Commodore Bill providing us a history of our 10 years as a Yacht Club.  All 30+ members enjoyed the ceremony ... well done Commodore.
More views of the Flag Raising
Then we started the evening meal.
  People gathering
Our Commodore explaining the weekend plan, with Phil Rogers the master chef standing behind preparing the food.
After the Saturday evening meal we partied a while then on Sunday morning started again with a Bloody Mary contest and a huge breakfast.
Here is Kevin, with help from Sam, cooking bacon and Gary cooking his famous Sausage Gravy with Phil looking on.
  The group moving around
And more words from the Commodore as he monitors the Bloody Mary contest.
Here are the guys relaxing and more of the ladies.  I tried to get a picture of Mary Ann, who won the Blood Mary contest but missed the best shot.  Well done Mary Ann.
I missed getting all of the pictures but we have two that show boats at Tall Timbers to enjoy their activities for a few hours, then we returned and continued to party at Coles Point.

Monday morning we reluctantly took off for home.
